Overview
The ECOSTEP 23S41-0650 is a high-performance rotary servo motor in the ECOSTEP 23S series, designed for demanding axes that require high torque and precise positioning in a NEMA 23 (56 mm) flange. With a motor length of 144 mm, a shaft diameter of 10 mm, and a mass of approximately 2.1 kg, it delivers significantly higher torque than smaller 23S variants.
Operating at a 60 V DC link, the motor provides 1.47 Nm rated torque at 500 min⁻¹ and approximately 77 W rated power. This performance is suitable for applications with higher continuous torque and lower rated speed. Standard protection is IP40, with an optional IP65 housing for harsher environments (shaft gland remains IP40). A wide range of mechanical options, including holding brake, gear variants, and diverse shaft or flange versions, ensures the ECOSTEP 23S41-0650 can be adapted to the machine and the JAT servo amplifiers used in the axis.
Advantages
The ECOSTEP 23S41-0650 delivers high torque NEMA 23 servo motor performance for compact but demanding motion tasks.
- When high torque at low speed and precise control are required, ECOSTEP motors provide a cost-efficient alternative to traditional servo motors.
- Compact and powerful: Very high torque in a NEMA 23 frame with 144 mm length supports powerful motion in limited installation space.
- Direct drive capable:3.04 Nm peak and 1.47 Nm rated torque enable direct drive concepts. This often eliminates the need for a gearbox and reduces external mechanical components.
- High dynamic servo operation: Genuine servo behaviour with 50 pole pairs supports precise speed and position control in dynamic machine cycles.
- Configured to the application: Mechanical options and encoder choices allow the motor to match specific mechanics and control setups from quantity 1.
Where it fits
Use this compact rotary servo motor when you need NEMA 23 torque and dynamics at a higher level than shorter 23S variants.
- High torque rotary or linear axes in assembly and handling systems
- Packaging, indexing, and format adjustment axes with higher load or inertia
- Medium to heavy pick-and-place units and actuators in automation equipment
- Rotary drives in laboratory, analysis, or inspection equipment with increased torque demand
- Servo axes in special machinery and robotics where strong torque and precise positioning are required in a NEMA 23 footprint
These are application examples and do not represent specific approvals.
Interfaces
The ECOSTEP 23S41-0650 is designed for operation in the 60 to 90 V DC link range and is optimised for use in JAT drive systems.
- Encoder options:
- Incremental ABN: Standard resolutions from 8,000 to 160,000 inc/rev.
- SinCos: 1000 periods per revolution with programmable resolution.
- Absolute BiSS-B: Up to 17-bit single turn and 12-bit multi-turn. Single turn resolutions up to 19-bit and incremental resolutions up to 256,000 inc/rev are available on request.
- Mechanical and protection options: Holding brake, gear options, shaft with key or long shaft, bearing flange variants, and IP65 housing option (shaft gland remains IP40).
- System integration: Recommended servo amplifiers include ECOVARIO 114D, ECOMODUL, and ECOMiniDual. Matching coupling sets and pre-assembled motor (plus brake/encoder) cable extensions support reliable wiring and fast commissioning.
