Compact servo drive - Motor and servo amplifier in one
Overview
The ECOMPACT E100-34E80 is a decentralized compact servo drive that integrates a high pole synchronous motor and servo amplifier in a single NEMA 34 housing. It is part of the ECOMPACT E100 series, offering IP40 protection (optional IP54), and is supplied from a 24 to 60 VDC power bus with a maximum DC link voltage of 60 VDC. The drive provides up to 5.9 Nm peak torque and 5.6 Nm stall torque at speeds up to 1500 rpm, so high torque is available in a compact 86 mm flange format for demanding industrial motion tasks.
Mounted directly on the machine frame, the E100-34E80 reduces the space required in the control cabinet and shortens motor cabling, since the power stage and control logic sit on the axis instead of in a central enclosure. The modular design supports different encoder systems, holding brake and gear options, as well as various fieldbus interfaces, so machine builders can configure the drive as a plug and play motion node that matches their mechanical and control requirements.
Advantages
- Reduces cabinet space and wiring effort by combining motor and servo amplifier in one unit on the machine, with a shared 24 to 60 VDC supply and linear wiring instead of long shielded motor cables.
- Delivers high torque in NEMA 34 size with up to 5.9 Nm peak torque, which supports direct drive concepts and helps reduce or eliminate external gearboxes in many applications.
- Improves motion quality and efficiency through the ECOSTEP high pole design, which provides smooth sinusoidal commutation and high stiffness at low speeds for precise positioning.
- Supports modular machine design because each axis becomes a self contained motion module that can be built, tested and reused, which simplifies engineering and service.
- On drive intelligence and diagnostics via ECOSTUDIO with parameter wizards, oscilloscope functions and integrated monitoring of current, voltage and temperature help shorten commissioning and make troubleshooting easier over the life of the system.
- Adapts to environments: Standard IP40 for clean zones or optional IP54 for harsh areas, allowing direct mounting near dust or splashing water without extra enclosures.
Where it fits
- Direct drive positioning axes where high torque and stiffness are needed without the backlash and maintenance effort of external gearboxes.
- Pick and place and dispensing modules that run frequent start stop cycles and benefit from smooth sinusoidal commutation and compact mechanics.
- Focusing, cutting and feed axes where precise low speed control and stable torque support accurate process control in Z axes or feed drives.
- Inspection and marking systems that require high resolution feedback and repeatable positioning on NEMA 34 based mechanics in decentralized, low voltage environments, adaptable to pollution degree 3 areas via optional IP54 sealing.
Interfaces
- Control modes for torque, speed and position control with configurable limits so motion behavior can be adapted to different loads and duty cycles.
- Fieldbus connectivity with DS402 drive profile support via CANopen and EtherCAT, which allows integration into common PLC platforms and synchronized multi axis systems.
- Local digital I/O with 5 digital inputs and 2 digital outputs for direct connection of limit switches, reference sensors and actuators at the axis.
- Encoder options including incremental encoders with high interpolated resolution, absolute encoders for applications that avoid homing cycles and SinCos variants for specialised signal processing.
- Commissioning and monitoring via ECOSTUDIO with parameterization wizards, oscilloscope functions and integrated protection features, which support reliable operation and reduce the risk of configuration errors in decentralized drive systems.
