Compact servo drive - motor and servo amplifier in one
Overview
The ECOMPACT E100-34E42 is a decentralized compact servo drive that combines a high pole synchronous motor and servo amplifier in one NEMA 34 unit. It is supplied from a 24 to 60 VDC power bus and delivers up to 3.3 Nm peak torque and 3.1 Nm stall torque at speeds up to 2500 rpm, so high torque is available in a compact 86 mm flange format.
Mounted directly on the machine frame, the E100-34E42 reduces cabinet space and wiring effort because the power stage and control logic sit on the axis instead of in a central enclosure. The modular design supports incremental and absolute encoders, holding brake and gear options, which allows engineers to treat the drive as a plug and play motion node and adapt feedback, holding torque and mechanics to their application.
The 50 pole ECOSTEP principle gives smooth, sinusoidal commutation and high torque at low speeds, which is well suited for direct drive concepts where backlash and elasticity from external gearboxes should be avoided.
Combined with robust mechanics and standard IP40 or optional IP54 protection, the ECOMPACT E100-34E42 provides a durable platform for demanding industrial motion tasks.
Advantages
- Reduces cabinet volume and wiring work by placing motor and servo amplifier in one housing on the machine, with short local cables and a shared 24 to 60 VDC supply instead of long shielded motor cables.
- Delivers high torque in NEMA 34 size, so many applications can run in direct drive without a separate gearbox, improving stiffness and reducing mechanical wear.
- Supports modular machine concepts because each axis forms a self contained motion module that can be built, tested and reused across machines.
- On drive intelligence with torque, speed and position control, jerk filters and digital vibration filters helps achieve smooth motion profiles and reduces stress on the mechanics over time.
- Efficient commissioning via ECOSTUDIO, with parameter wizards, motor and encoder databases and oscilloscope functions, shortens setup time and helps avoid configuration errors in decentralized systems.
- Withstands harsh environments: The optional IP54 rating (IP40 standard) protects against dust and splash water, allowing decentralized installation directly at the process without needing extra protective housings
Where it fits
- Pick and place and dispensing axes that need strong torque, smooth motion and compact mechanics, especially for rapid start and stop cycles.
- Focusing and cutting axes where high torque at low speed and direct drive operation support precise feed and position control.
- Inspection, marking and metrology systems that benefit from high resolution feedback and smooth sinusoidal commutation for accurate positioning.
- Decentralized industrial machines that use a 24 to 60 VDC bus and have limited cabinet space but require robust, NEMA 34 sized axis modules mounted on the frame. The optional IP54 rating supports pollution degree 3 environments, ensuring reliability even outside the control cabinet.
Interfaces
- Control modes for digital torque, speed and position control with configurable limits so motion behavior can be tuned to the load and duty cycle.
- Fieldbus connectivity with DS402 drive profile support via CANopen and EtherCAT, enabling integration into common PLC platforms and synchronized multi axis systems.
- Local digital I/O with 5 digital inputs and 2 digital outputs for connecting limit switches, reference sensors and local actuators directly to the drive.
- Encoder and feedback options including SinCos incremental encoders with high interpolated resolution and absolute encoder variants for systems that should avoid homing cycles.
- Engineering via ECOSTUDIO with parameterization wizards, an integrated oscilloscope and active monitoring of current, voltage, temperature and i²t values, which supports reliable operation and simplifies diagnostics over the life of the axis.
