Development and production complex

Technology complex - operated with zero emissions

On the path towards higher production capacities, development resources and more attractive working conditions, JAT built a production and technology complex in 2019.
The work on the foundations started in October 2017. A 30 m deep pile foundation is used at the same time for heating and cooling off the new building entirely with geothermal energy. The use of environmentally-friendly materials in the entire building also illustrates JAT's environmental aspect.
The new complex unites two areas. Development laboratories and office spaces for individual and team work as well as lounge areas for spontaneous meetings are located on an area of 3500 m². Another 1700 m² of production and storage space was also erected.
The areas offer adequate space for 140 workstations. Drive innovations and concepts are developed here. The new production capacities also allows for faster implementation, from the prototype to the series product.

Second place for the company complex at the Thuringian Energy Efficiency Awards

The Thuringian Energy Efficiency Award was awarded at the ThEGA Forum, the leading event for the energy revolution in Thuringia and Central Germany. JAT was pleased to win second place. The prize was awarded for the new CO2-neutral company complex on Buchaer Straße in Jena. “Corporate responsibility means also being responsible for our society and the environment. Thus, JAT approaches the environment with the same degree of passion and precision it affords its drive products and customer solutions" says Stephan Preuß, CEO of JAT.
For the eighth time, the Thüringer Energie-und GreenTech-Agentur (ThEGA) is awarding prizes to Thuringian municipalities and companies that are especially committed to climate protection and energy efficiency.

Percent for art - signature of the drive heroes

Artistic ideas for the exterior grounds and the façade were sought in an art competition. The draft was supposed to take both the use and the architecture of the building into consideration. We want to improve the perception of the architecture with the art project. At the same time, the artistic contribution should reflect our company and be relevant to our daily work.
Five local artists got a close-up look at JAT behind the façade during the company tour. Based on their interaction with the company, the products and employees, the artists developed a wide variety of recommendations for the exterior design. All of the drafts, submitted as posters, were presented at JAT and exhibited there.
The special feature of the competition was that the jury did not consist of people who are familiar with art, but instead, everyone at JAT was encouraged to express their opinion and vote. There was huge interest and
high participation in the selection of the artistic contribution. The result of the vote was clear and the draft from Thomas Lindner from Erfurt won. His two-part idea initiated employee participation and allows for the incorporation of fragments, sketches and drawings as an art collage. We see the draft as a signature for the building. It reflects the employees' identification with the company.
