Overview
The ECOSTEP 42S90-1400 is a high-performance rotary servo motor in the ECOSTEP series, engineered for demanding motion control tasks requiring substantial power in a 110 mm flange (approx. NEMA 42). With a motor length of 180 mm, a 19 mm shaft, and a mass of 8.5 kg, it delivers exceptional torque density for heavy-duty applications.
Operating at a 150 V DC link, the motor provides 6.8 Nm rated torque at 500 rpm and 356 W rated power, with a massive 15 Nm peak and stall torque. This high-torque output at low speeds (rated 500 rpm, max 1500 rpm) is achieved through a 50-pole pair design, making it ideal for direct-drive configurations. Standard protection is IP40. The motor is optimized for operation with the ECOVARIO 214 servo amplifier.
Advantages
The ECOSTEP 42S90-1400 enables heavy-duty direct drive concepts in space-constrained industrial machinery.
- When high torque at low speed and precise control are required, ECOSTEP motors provide a cost-efficient alternative to traditional servo motors.
- Direct Drive Capability: With 15 Nm stall torque, this motor can often drive loads directly. This eliminates the need for a gearbox, reducing system complexity, cost, backlash, and maintenance.
- Compact and Powerful: Delivers exceptionally high torque relative to its physical volume, allowing for the integration of powerful motion axes into restricted spaces.
- High Dynamics: Genuine servo operation provides the high dynamic response required for rapid acceleration, deceleration, and precise positioning, essential for improving cycle times.
- Economical Performance: Offers a competitive price-to-performance ratio compared to traditional AC servo motors in similar operating points.
Where it fits
Use this large-flange, high-torque servo motor for applications requiring significant force without the bulk of a gearbox.
- Direct-drive rotary tables and indexing axes.
- Heavy-duty material handling and transfer units.
- Automated machinery requiring rapid, precise positioning of heavy loads.
- Space-constrained applications where a gearbox + motor assembly would be too long.
