Overview
The ECOSTEP 34S501-0700 is a high-performance rotary servo motor in the ECOSTEP 34S50x series, designed for demanding axes that require high torque in a compact NEMA 34 (86 mm) flange. With a motor length of approximately 114 mm, a 12 mm shaft diameter, and a mass of around 2.6 kg, it offers high torque density in a relatively small footprint.
At a 325 V DC link, the motor reaches approximately 2 Nm rated torque at 500 min⁻¹ and around 100 W rated power, with up to 4 Nm peak torque available when needed. Rated values are specified for operation on a 200 × 240 × 20 mm mounting flange, which defines the thermal operating point. The ECOSTEP 34S50x series is designed for dynamic, high-precision positioning at high torque relative to size, specifically for operation in higher DC link voltage ranges compared with low-voltage ECOSTEP motors.
Standard protection is IP40, with an optional IP65 housing for more demanding environments (shaft gland remains IP40). The platform supports application-specific customization, including mechanical options such as holding brakes, gear variants, and shaft/flange versions. Customer-specific winding adjustments are available from small quantities. A wide encoder range and predefined connector/cable options support straightforward integration with the recommended ECOVARIO 414 servo amplifier.
Advantages
The ECOSTEP 34S501-0700 offers high-torque NEMA 34 servo motor performance for compact but demanding servo axes.
- When high torque at low speed and precise control are required, ECOSTEP motors provide a cost-efficient alternative to traditional servo motors.
- Compact and powerful: Very high torque in a NEMA 34 frame with 114 mm housing length enables strong motion control in limited installation space.
- Direct drive capable:4 Nm peak and 2 Nm rated torque can allow direct drive concepts without a gearbox in many applications. This reduces external gear components and simplifies mechanics.
- High dynamic servo behavior: Engineered for rapid start-stop cycles, precise speed control, and accurate positioning in high-throughput automation.
- Adapted to the operating point: Mechanical options, encoder variants, and customer-specific winding adjustments help align the motor with the required torque-speed range.
- Economic efficiency: A strong price-to-performance ratio in its operating range makes it an attractive alternative to AC servo motors in similar applications.
Where it fits
Use this compact rotary servo motor when you need high-torque NEMA 34 servo axes on higher DC link voltages.
- Dynamic rotary or linear axes in assembly and handling systems
- Packaging, indexing, and format adjustment axes with higher load or inertia
- Direct drive positioning units or actuators in special machinery
- Vertical or inclined axes where high torque and an optional holding brake support safe load handling
- Retrofit or upgrade projects where an existing NEMA 34 interface should be retained but more torque and servo dynamics are required
These are application examples and do not represent specific approvals.
Interfaces
The ECOSTEP 34S501-0700 is designed for operation with DC link voltages up to 370 V DC (rated at 325 V DC) and is optimized for use with the ECOVARIO 414 servo amplifier.
