Processing & Assembly
Processes like CNC or laser drilling, inspection, Marking & labeling, and subsequent panel separation are performed. Through precision milling or Laser cutting , large format panels — known as "panels" — are divided into many smaller boards. For instance, a 25x25 inch panel can be split into around 60 to 80 smartphone circuit boards through milling or punching.
Pick & Place, Positioning
Between each stage, automated handling and Pick & Place operations occur — for example, a gripper system transfers a board to a conveyor belt, a stacking system, or a workpiece carrier. During processing, the workpiece carrier is positioned or aligned with micrometer-level accuracy.
Inspection – AOI (Automated Optical Inspection) or X-Ray Inspection
Automated high-speed inspection systems are used to verify aspects such as solder joints, SMD (surface-mount device) assembly, or wire bonds. During optical Inspections , a camera moves with high precision over a circuit board in XY direction, capturing images at predefined points. These images are then compared with CAD data using specialized software.
