Potential buyer: "ECOSTEP®, what does that mean?" - Jenaer Antriebstechnik: "Encoder commutated stepping motor."

Potential buyer: "Ah, stepping motors with encoder to call up the position. So what is new about it?" - Jenaer Antriebstechnik: "New is that we control the load angle and so only put in the current needed. This stepping motor never loses its steps."

Potential buyer: "Principally like a brushless AC-servo and similar expensive?" - Jenaer Antriebstechnik: "It is really more expensive than a stepping motor but an inexpensive alternative to an AC-servo. Some attributes are even better." See also Products

Potential buyer: "Of course, a stepping motor is nothing else than a synchronous motor with many poles which can be produced in masses. In lower speed range under 1000 revolution/minute it has relative to its volume a higher effective torque than an AC-servo. An AC-servo is a synchronous motor with less poles which shows a better performance with revolutions per minute. At what kind of application this servostepper is in advance?" - Jenaer Antriebstechnik: "In those fields where you have to make fast, small and precise strokes with high duty cycle." Potential buyer: "Ok, that is impressive, but I do not have just high dynamical applications. Could I integrate the ECOSTEP® in normal automation process environments?" - Jenaer Antriebstechnik: "Sure, the ECOSTEP® supports many widely used field bus like CANopen, Profibus DP or PPI. You could use it as a normal positioning drive. On the other hand our OEM-partners supply several system solutions and technology functions through the ECOSTEP®." See also Partners

Potential buyer: "That's fine - normal Pick & Place applications I can program directly or through a touchpanel with predefined functions, at higher performance I use special PLC or PC solutions.
